LEED Certification

The best strategy for implementing sustainable green buildings internationally.
Introduction

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and was announced in 1998 as a standardized and market-driven evaluation system for green buildings throughout the United States. Available for virtually all building types, LEED certification provides a framework for healthy, highly efficient, and cost-saving green buildings, which offer environmental, social, and governance benefits. LEED is also the world’s most widely used green building rating system in the world.

Today there are more than 105,000 LEED-certificate buildings in nearly 190 countries. Many landmark buildings and corporate headquarters or factories in Taiwan and around the world, such as Taipei 101, Taipei Nanshan Plaza, Google, Apple, TSMC, Delta Electronics, and many more, have achieved LEED certifications. The SSDC team has successfully completed over 200 LEED projects both domestically and internationally.

LEED standards contain disciplines across different sustainable issues, including site ecology and stormwater management, energy efficiency, water resources, materials, and indoor environmental quality. Relevant areas of expertise include architecture, landscape design, eco-system design, renewable energy, HVAC systems, and interior design. The expected highlights of obtaining LEED certification are as follows:

Overall energy efficiency is 20% higher than ASHRAE 90.1 standard.

Lighting Power Density (LPD) is at least 30% lower than ASHRAE 90.1 standard.

Water savings are over 35%.

Mechanical ventilation exceeds international standards by 30% and above.

Construction waste recycling rate is as high as 90%.

Increase the use of recycled content and the use of local building materials by more than 20%.

Please note that the specific data may vary depending on the level of LEED certification pursued and the project’s unique characteristics.

The SSDC team has extensive experience in seamlessly incorporating LEED design principles into projects during the design phase. We comprehensively understand the entire LEED certification process and provide appropriate green design solutions. we also offer support to design teams in ensuring the accuracy of design drawings and documentation. Furthermore, we guide construction contractors during the construction phase to guarantee the success of LEED certification.
